I love art for two reasons: the artist and the challenge.

When I say the artist, I more so mean the person. When you look at art, I personally think you do not need an extensive knowledge of the specific movement a work was created in or what technique was used—although that certainly allows for an additional level of fun. You only need the knowledge that a genuine, vulnerable, passionate human being put that paint on the canvas, on that graphite on paper, or whatever other medium may be in use. In knowing that—picturing that artist in front of their finished work in a moment of satisfaction—you have reached the maximum amount of knowledge you need to truly experience the art.

The second is the challenge; the challenge to create beauty from a blank canvas allows one to physically manifest thoughts and feelings for all to see. Having the courage to create something beautiful that means something to you, and share it with the world is one of the most inspirational goals I can imagine—courage and creativity are inviolably linked.  I aspire to do that eventually in whatever direction my life takes me.
